KIMBLE JENKINS, President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Jenkins has served as our President since January 2003, and he has also served as our Chief Executive Officer since September 2004. Prior to joining SurgiVision, he was a Managing Director with the investment bank Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc., where he founded the firm's Private Equity Group in 1998. Under his management, the Private Equity Group developed growth strategies and raised over $500 million in equity capital for clients. In addition, his group formed and managed four private equity funds. Mr. Jenkins has over 20 years of experience building and working with growth stage companies. Mr. Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center.
PETER PIFERI, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Piferi joined us in December 2006 as our Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Piferi has 23 years of experience in the areas of product development, operations, engineering and production in the medical device industry. From March 2003 to December 2006, Mr. Piferi served as Vice President, Endovascular Technologies for Edwards Lifesciences Corporation. In addition, Mr. Piferi has served as Vice President at Kriton Medical Inc. and Orbus Medical Technologies, Inc. and as Director of Advanced Engineering at Cordis Corporation.
DAVID CARLSON, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Carlson joined us in February 2010 as Vice President, Finance and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in April 2010. Mr. Carlson has 17 years of experience in financial leadership roles in the medical device industry. From 1999 to 2009, he served in various financial management positions as a Vice President of Finance and Senior Finance Director at Medtronic, Inc., a global leader in medical technologies. He was serving as the Corporate Controller of Sofamor Danek, Inc., a then publicly traded medical device company, when it was acquired by Medtronic, Inc. in 1999. Mr. Carlson is a certified public accountant, and was formerly an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
CAROL BARBRE, Vice President, Product Management
Ms. Barbre joined us in May 2008 as Vice President, Product Management. Ms. Barbre has 20 years of experience in the medical device industry in the areas of marketing and business development, with a focus on new medical therapies. From May 2007 to May 2008, Ms. Barbre served as Senior Director of Marketing for Edwards Lifesciences Corporation, a publicly traded medical device company. From 2002 to May 2007, Ms. Barbre served as Global Marketing Director for Bolton Medical, Inc., a privately held medical device company.
JOHN KEANE, Vice President, Sales
Mr. Keane joined us in April 2010 as Vice President, Sales. He has 20 years of sales experience in the medical device industry. From October 2006 until April 2010, Mr. Keane served as the Worldwide Director of Sales for Stereotactic Surgery, Radiosurgery, Image Guided Surgery, Brain Mapping and Service Agreements for Integra Radionics, Inc., a subsidiary of Integra Lifesciences Corporation, a publicly traded medical device manufacturer. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Keane served as Academic Center Representative for I-Flow Corporation, formerly a publicly traded medical device company that merged with a subsidiary of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, a publicly traded company, in 2009. From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Keane was the National Leader of Academic Sales Representatives at Baxter International Inc., a publicly traded global, diversified health care company.
MICHAEL MOORE, Vice President, Operations
Mr. Moore joined us in October 2008 as Senior Director, Operations and he was promoted to Vice President, Operations in June 2009. Mr. Moore has 18 years of experience in medical device development and product realization. From January 2003 to March 2008, he was the Chief Technical Officer for Bolton Medical, Inc. In addition, Mr. Moore previously served as Director of R&D and Operations for AVE, Peripheral Vascular, a division of Medtronic, Inc., and in different operations and product development roles at Cordis Corporation and DePuy Orthopedics, Inc.
OSCAR THOMAS, Vice President, Business Affairs
Mr. Thomas joined us in April 2008 as Vice President, Business Affairs. In addition, he has served as our Secretary since December 2009. From January 2003 to April 2008, Mr. Thomas was a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of the law firm Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. He spent 12 years in private practice representing clients in a broad range of transactions, including licensing transactions, development collaborations, joint ventures, M&A transactions, and debt and equity financings.
MICHAEL GUTTMAN, Director, Software Development
Mr. Guttman has over 20 years of experience in the areas of medical imaging and devices. He previously was a Staff Scientist at NIH working with a multi-disciplinary team developing real-time MRI for image guided interventional applications. Mr. Guttman has also served as a member of the Radiology research faculty at Johns Hopkins Hospital developing cardiac MRI applications.
RAJESH PANDEY, Director of Advanced Product Development
Mr. Pandey came to SurgiVision with 11 years of experience in technical design, solid modeling and process development for medical devices, with 8 years in design and implementation of electromechanical medical devices. He has previously worked at Stryker Instruments, Medtronic Xomed, Z-Kat, HeartWare and InnerPulse.
KAMAL VIJ, Director of Electrical Engineering
Mr. Vij has over 15 years of experience in the development of MR imaging coils and interventional MRI devices. Prior to SurgiVision, he served as president of ViaRes Technologies. Mr. Vij previously served as MRI Engineering Manager at Gore & Associates and Project Engineer at Medical Advances.
EDWARD WADDELL, Director of Quality and Regulatory
Mr. Waddell has over 20 years of experience in medical device regulatory affairs and quality assurance. Prior to joining SurgiVision, Mr. Waddell worked in similar capacity at Gish Biomedical, Sabratek and Block Medical.
PARAG KARMARKAR, Principal Engineer
Mr. Karmarkar started with SurgiVision in 1998. He has 18 years of engineering experience including 10 years in the development of medical devices, interventional MR micro coils and catheters. In addition to his work for SurgiVision, Mr. Karmarkar was a Research Fellow at both John Hopkins and the NIH, and he served as Senior R&D Engineer at Cordis Corporation.
